Q: Dear Mike,
Jumbos latest financial report looks impressive - maiden profit for our lottery business and fundamentally sound. My concerns are that our partners (powerball, lotto = tatts) who are also our competitors withdraw from ozlotteries.com. Is there any way to diversify our lottery partners so that all our eggs are not in that basket. Looking at thelotto.com business model (they receive 100,000 daily uniques), they offer lotteries in Italy, US, UK. Could we diversify geographically? Is it possible to open up the world lottery market to Australians? (I am not sure if one needs to be a citizen/permanent resident of a country to participate in the lottery in other countries). It certainly would be an exciting concept to have a single website providing the world's lottery tickets. Jumbos current growth phase is reminiscent of Webjets early days, or even Wotif and Tripadvisor where the airlines and hotels were not keen to participate. Now, they do NOT have a choice as online bookings form a significant part of their revenue. Thank you for your attention.
